A UTM parameter is a tag added to a URL's query string that tells analytics tools where a click came from. The five standard ones are utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content.

Also known as
UTM; UTM tag; UTM code
They are how campaign traffic gets labeled so it shows up correctly in GA4, Bloomreach, and other tools. Consistent naming is everything: “facebook” and “FB” become two different sources in reports, which quietly fragments the numbers.
In practice
Agree a UTM convention once and enforce it with a builder or template. The reports are only as clean as the tags going in, and you cannot fix inconsistent UTMs after the click.
