A lookalike audience is an audience modeled to resemble your existing valuable customers.

lookalike; similar audience

The stronger version seeds the model with first-party data and lets the ad platform expand it, rather than relying on third-party segments.

In practice

A lookalike is only as good as its seed. Feed it your best-customer first-party data, not a broad or noisy list, or the platform will model the wrong people. A good seed is a tight, valuable group, such as repeat purchasers with high lifetime value; a weak seed, such as all newsletter subscribers, teaches the model to find average people.
