AI-ready data is customer data that an AI feature can use without a person cleaning it up first: every event has one agreed name, every person has one profile, consent is stored on the profile by purpose, and the product catalog matches the events.

Also known as
AI readiness; agent-ready data
Gartner found in February 2025 that 63% of organizations lack AI-ready data or can't confirm they have it. For a marketing platform, those four checks are what the finding means. An AI feature reads the same data a new colleague would read on their first day, only faster and without asking anyone what a field means. Where the data is ambiguous, the feature guesses.
In practice
Count the four things in an afternoon: how many names your key events go by, how many profiles one real customer has, where consent is stored, and whether every product in your events exists in the catalog. Fix what fails, then turn AI features on in the order that costs least when they're wrong: analytics first, then content tools, then agents.
